Welcome to Class 1

As children join Markington School from age three, we can have a large spread of ages, needs and abilities each with a different range of prior experiences, within the same class. We think that this is an asset; and supported by low child to staff ratios, knowledgeable and nurturing staff, and our ambitious curriculum; children are able to get the best start to their educational journey, with provision that is unique and individualised.
Our broad, balanced and ambitious Early Years curriculum is designed to support children to make progress in each of the seven areas of learning and to prepare them for their next stage of their education. We want them to experience the awe and wonder of the world in which they live, using our curriculum as the foundations for enhancing the experiences and opportunities available.

How is my child's learning documented?

Children's learning is carefully designed through a well planned, progressive curriculum. Our experienced staff play and interact with the children to develop their communication, language and social skills. Their learning is recorded and shared with parents in a scrapbook-style Wow! book which captures significant milestones. The books are sent home at the end of each half-term and we encourage families to share learning and experiences from home in their child's book.

How is knowledge between school and families shared?

Wow! books
