Christian Vision for our School
Our school’s vision is founded in a clear theology, firmly rooted in a Christian narrative, that everyone is special, and through sharing our gifts, we are following God’s vision for how we should live together.
‘make full use of the gift God gave you’2 Timothy 1:6
At Markington Church of England Primary and Nursery School we believe that this encompasses our ethos and culture - encouraging each other, and making the right choices to become the best people we can be, and to help others, as God asks of us.
Our school, and everyone within it, are all part of a community - local, national and international - and in our school, we ask the children to use their unique gifts from God, to make a difference, whether big or small, with love and kindness at its heart. We consider the 'why' as well as the 'what' of our actions.
We have a specific Safeguarding Curriculum, which is in addition to our PSHE and other wider curriculum learning - for more information please click here
Safeguarding Statement
Markington School is committed to ensuring the welfare and safety of all children in school and expects all staff, governors, volunteers and visitors to share this commitment. Safeguarding is everybody's responsibility and all people in the school community have a duty to act on any concern.
We have a number of policies and procedures in place that contribute to our safeguarding commitment, including our Child Protection Policy which can be viewed in the policies section on our website.
All North Yorkshire schools, including Markington School, follow the North Yorkshire Safeguarding Children Partnership procedures. The school will, normally, endeavour to discuss all concerns with parents about their child/ren. However, there may be exceptional circumstances when the school will discuss concerns with Social Care and/or the Police without parental knowledge (in accordance with Child Protection procedures). The school will, of course, always aim to maintain a positive relationship with all parents and will always act for what is in the best interests of the child. The school’s child protection policy is available publicly on the school website: www.markington.n-yorks.sch.uk
For monitoring safeguarding, wellbeing and all pastoral issues we use the online system, CPOMS. This supports our robust reporting and ensures that any information we report is shared immediately and securely between relevant parties.
Operation Encompass is a police and education early information safeguarding partnership enabling schools to offer immediate support to children experiencing domestic abuse.
