Markington School dates back to 1789 when it was founded by the Wilberforce family. The school remains on the same site and has  been extended and modernised to provide 4 classrooms and two playgrounds. In addition to the school site we use the Village Institute for PE and drama. The village has excellent sports facilities with an all-weather games area, cricket and football pitches.  We are a church school with close links to St. Michael’s Church in the village.

We welcome children to the school from 3 years old who will join our nursery class. As a small school, the class organisation can change but we always prioritise small class sizes and high quality provision. As children reach the end of their primary education they transition to a range of independent, selective and state schools in the Harrogate and Ripon area. We work closely with these schools to ensure a positive transition for all children.

Through a creative curriculum we aim to promote a love of learning where children:

-      Can achieve their academic and creative potential

-      Demonstrate Christian values and essential life skills

-      Care about each other and the world around them
